In a ceremony that took place on January 21, 2020, Dominica officially opened its first embassy in the Middle East, located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dominica’s Prime Minister, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, attended the event and gave a speech.

PM Skerrit said, "Thanks to the Citizenship by Investment Program, Dominica already has a small but dynamic population, resident in the UAE and contributing to the dynamism of its service sector and to sustainable development at home." He added that the embassy would serve as "a crucial link between what is in effect the Dominican diaspora here in the UAE and the homeland."
